"Reparations #4" by Courtney Jolliff, 39x27 $650 acrylic on canvas

Above, you see the fourth artwork in Jolliff's "Reparations" series. The piece is a tribute to artist Jean Michelle Basquiat and civil rights icon Emmett Till.

"I live now near Emmett Till Road," Jolliff explains, and the painting was inspired by thinking on that. It depicts "Basquiat telling Till that for his honor and tragic death, they named a street after him–a sad attempt of reparations. Basquiat was notorious for being weirdly honest."
